James Ward-Prowse is set to leave West Ham United temporarily to join Nottingham Forest on loan until the end of the season. The

29-year-old has emerged as the Hammers’ second-choice option, leading Forest to make an approach for him to join the team.

In the end, the Foresters came to an agreement with West Ham on a loan deal without any conditions attached to the loan in any form. And the player has travelled for a medical ahead of the transfer deadline.

West Ham have spent a significant sum to revamp their squad over the past two months, but Lopetegui is still looking to strengthen his options in midfield.

Ward-Prowse isn’t in the manager’s plans, and his situation has alerted several clubs in the Premier League and abroad to his availability.

Former Real Betis midfielder Guido Rodriguez’s arrival on a free transfer has seemingly pushed Ward-Prowse further down the pecking order at the London Stadium.

West Ham are now ready to sell the Englishman just 12 months after his arrival from Southampton on a four-year contract.

Ward-Prowse has played just 16 minutes for Julen Lopetegui this season, coming on as a substitute in the opening game of the season at Aston Villa.

He joined West Ham from Southampton for £30million last summer and made 52 appearances in his first season, scoring sevenยูฟ่าเบท goals.

He has also won 11 England caps but missed out on Gareth Southgate’s squad for Euro 2024.

West Ham have bolstered their midfield with the free transfer signing of Guido Rodriguez and are also closing in on Carlos Soler from Paris Saint-Germain.

Forest have already signed nine new players, including Elliot Anderson and Marko Stamenic, who both play in midfield.
